Welcome to the community.
I’m so glad you landed here and I look forward to making some lasting friendships with other like-minded families including yours!
I’m Yvette. My family and I live in the sunshine state of California. I’m a woman after God’s own heart, a wife, a mother to 5 very different kiddos, a grandma to 1 beautiful girl, and a teacher at heart. My youngest daughter Gianna is non- verbal with profound Autism and she is the main driving factor for me behind all of this. I’ve recently decided it was in the best interest of our family, especially our little girl, to stop working in corporate America and devote 100% of my time to being a stay at home mom to the kids, homemaker to the family, and full time special needs caretaker to our little girl. I can say in all honesty that choosing to be home and present for the needs of our entire family has been the the best decision of my life!
I love God. I love Him with all of my heart and the total depth of my soul. He is the reason that I live and breathe, and the “how” behind, how I keep going so confidently and in total peace even through all the very loud chaos that life might bring. I rely on my my faith in Him for ALL things no matter how small. Without Him, I am nothing and I realize that more than ever through this past decade of my life. That hasn’t always been the case. I have a testimony that will blow your socks off and I hope to be able to share a little more of that in the near future. I will say, I gave my life fully to the Lord around the time I got married to my amazing husband (2011), and I’ve never been the same! I’m thankful for the dark places that he has delivered me from, and I am committed to spreading his goodness with the gifts and abilities that he has planted within me.
I love my husband. I couldn’t ask for a better half than what God has given me. My husband Mike is my best friend. I’ve known him since high school. We started dating a little here and there since 2008, and we married in August of 2011. He keeps me sharp, and isn’t afraid to be honest with me, and to challenge me through difficult times in our life. He loves God and shares the same beliefs and faith, and because of him, I found Christ again. He is an amazing father to our kids, and always goes above and beyond in showing his love to us. Being married to him has made me a better person and for that and so many other wonderful qualities in him, I am grateful. Since day one, he has encouraged me along this journey and is my main supporter. I am blessed to be able to call him “sweetie”. I will share a lot of things about the topic of marriage over time on my page in hopes that it helps others when enjoying the highs, or navigating the lows that can sometimes present itself in even the most perfect marriages.
I love my kids. All 5 of them! I have 2 sons in their early 20’s, a teenager girl who is 14, a preteen son who is 11, and our youngest, our last, and our sweet little girl is 4. I love being a mom. I feel like if I could have one calling in my life from God, being a mom would be it! Being a mom is a blessing each and every day. As in most families, there have still been a tremendous amount of challenges we have faced over the past decade while raising 5 totally different and unique little humans, and I plan to share some of that in some capacity here on my page with you. Of course I won’t leave out the good stuff which is the best stuff! We are totally a “glass full” type of family and I’m excited to show you how we make that mindset possible in each and every day of our lives.
I love my granddaughter. Yes, I am also a Grandma to a very spunky, very spicy, beautiful little 3 year old girl. Being a Grandma is a special thing. I hope to be able to share a little insight of both parenting, and grandparenting with you that you will find relatable in your own lives. It’s quite interesting being both a Mom to a 4 year old and a Grandma to a 3 year old but it’s a very beautiful thing and my love for my granddaughter is unique in it’s own right, and can’t be shaken. She has a very special place in my heart. Always and forever.
I love the simple things in life. The non-conventional things in life bring me great joy. I love the outdoors. I love all things relative to nature. I am unique and quirky myself, and I’m learning to embrace those qualities in life in order to help others. Some hobbies of mine are herbalism, apothecary, homeopathy, gardening, cooking, swimming, playing sports, watching sports, reading, watching history channel, and all sorts of different DIY projects.
I’m constantly trying to figure out ways to spend more quality time with my family. I believe that quality time, in whatever form is what really matters most. What will your kids remember when they are adults and think back to their childhood at home with you? Remember, no lives are perfect. We are human and we’ll miss the mark quite a bit in life, but don’t get down on yourself, because that is the beauty of parenting and one of the many building blocks of a strong family. Remember, life is what you make it! Where there is love, there might also pain. Your attitude and actions towards these things is what counts most, so be conscience of that and be willing to be perfected daily (sometimes hourly) in those less than perfect parts of our lives.
I really hope that my blog offers you a sense of community. A safe place where you feel like you can relate, like you are not alone in your journey, and where you can gain a ton of knowledge to use as you navigate you own lives. I really don’t know exactly how far this blog will go, or where it will take me later down the road, but I’m venturing outside of my comfort zone in attempts to help others. I have a strong will to provide comfort to families through the ups and the downs of special needs parenting and desire to be there to support you through the ebb and flow of life in general. Thank you for connecting with me, I hope you stay. Please be sure to sign up for our newsletter so you don’t miss out on anything I have to share with you. We have some many things in the works, and the best is yet to come!
Stay tuned, enjoy, and God bless you always.
